Fashion Felony Friday: Heather Morris

Earlier this week, entertainment news was buzzing about Amber Riley’s fainting spell while walking the red carpet at The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.  Thank goodness, she’s okay, but the same can’t be said about her Glee costar, Heather Morris’ outfit.  It looks as though someone was playing dress up in the Good Will bin.  I don’t even know where to begin with this mess.  There is no need to wear a shawl in April.  The only good thing that can be said about it is that it covers the bustier/flutter top monstrosity.  Her skirt looks just plain cheap.  While the print is rather interesting, it doesn’t match up at the seams.  If the skirt was floor length, it might work in a boho sort of way, but the high/low hemline makes absolutely no sense.  Speaking of the skirt, what’s with the superfluous belt?  By itself, it is pretty, but why throw it on over the skirt?  The skirt does not need it to prevent it from slipping down, so it’s not there for function.  There are no belt loops, and the neutral color of the belt gets lost in the print of the skirt, so it’s not there for style.  Moving down to the socks… yep, that’s right.  I said socks.  The only way a woman should wear black calf length socks on a red carpet is hidden underneath a chic, feminine tuxedo.   The shoes appear to be suede, which, while appropriate in Fall, look out of place in April.  They’re cute, but out of season.  Overall, this look was a total failure.
